Loch Lomond Office

Martin Haynes March 3, 2016

This open plan office has automatic venting windows, but there was still a terrible heat built up from the sun glare. Therefore the objective was to create solar shading to work in tandem with the automatic venting windows. Our solution was to install electric solar blinds in the recess of the sloping windows and a series of electric solar blinds following the s-shape of the 52 metre long ceiling.

In the main board room there is a triangular window at 5200mm in height. We installed four electric shaped blinds and one 4600 metre wide electric roller blind with a 3500 metre drop. There is also a sloping ceiling with six electric blackout blinds installed to allow for the use of a projector screen.

Dancebase studio

Martin Haynes March 2, 2016

We have given this dance studio with a glass ceiling that is over 220 square metres our blackout solution, so this space can also be used during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

There is 10 horizontal roof blinds each blind is approximately 3.5 metres wide with a 4 metre pull, using a fabric tension system (FTS) with built in radio (RF) controlled motors and side fasteners on the edges of the fabric. An FTS blind has a cassette box at each end of the blind with a RF electric tubular motor in each box. These RF motors are wired to a control box allowing one motor to release an electric brake, while the other is pulling the blind open or closed. All blinds can be operated by the push of a button using a handheld and/or wall mounted switch.

There is also 20 vertical blinds along the sides of this glass ceiling, each blind is approximately 2.7 metres wide with a 1.5 metre drop. Each blind has one cassette box with a RF motor, also controlled using a handheld and/or wall mounted switch.
